Couper Seafoods is a family run fish processing business based in Aberdeen, in the North East of Scotland originally set up in 1987 by father and son team Daniel Couper JR and Daniel Couper SR, now also run by third generation, Jamie Couper.

We specialise in sustainable species, boasting MSC acreditation for producing Haddock. All fillets produced at Coupers are done by hand, we pride ourselves as being excellent for this very reason.

Depending on the size and species of fish we currently produce around 4500kg of fillets per day, these are sold frozen, fresh, portioned or smoked depending on our customers requirements. Our main customers in the UK and Ireland include fish and chip shops, distributors and onwards processors.

In recent years we have reshaped the business towards fresh production of different species and now we want to develop opportunities in the UK and Ireland for fresh and frozen products

Coupers Seafoods proudly supports responsible fishing and strives to produce MSC accredited Haddock. Through excellent Chain of Custody and traceability procedures throughout production Coupers has successfully been awarded accreditation to produce and sell MSC certified Haddock.

We sell all the below species fresh and frozen, with grading capabilities for size specifications. Cod, Whiting and Haddock are sold as count sizes for the fresh market (count per stone) everything else can be sold as 3kg, 5kg or one stone boxes (according to customer preference). Frozen fish is commonly sold in 15kg boxes but can be repacked according to customer requirements.

All of our Fish is sourced in the UK

We have expert buyers in markets throughout the UK and our main supply is sourced daily by Danny Jr and Sr in Peterhead Market. We strive to only use first rate quality fish and implement a HACCP throughout production. We are SALSA and MSC accredited.

Currently, Coupers has a 50/50 split in the production of fresh fillets and frozen fillets - Main Frozen Products are IQF Haddock Skinless Boneless Fillets, Blast Frozen Smoked Haddock, Smoked Coley and Squid, while the Main Fresh Products are Haddock, Whiting, Cod, Coley, Hake, Lemon Sole, Plaice, Pollack.

All Fillets are hand cut by expert filleting staff who are trained to do all types of cut, the most common in the UK is a boneless fillet as shown.

Fillets are individually quick frozen to preserve freshness, some customers have a requirement for blast frozen fish which is also available.
Coupers also has an on site cold store with capacity of 100 pallets.
